Capital Care is cutting 48 licensed practical nurses at its seniors facilities in Edmonton, according to the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees.
The union says the jobs were cut due to a $3 million funding shortfall from Alberta Health Services.
"This should concern every family who has a senior relative residing in a Capital Care facility," AUPE president Guy Smith said in a news release.
Smith said the employees will be replaced by health care aides who don't have the same level of training.
