Edmonton police are looking for a man with bite marks on one of the fingers of his left hand in a sexual assault near Old Strathcona Monday night.

Police say a 31-year-old woman was walking to work along 76th Avenue just east of 104th Street around 9:45 p.m. when a man suddenly turned around after passing her on the sidewalk.

The man threw the woman to the ground and started sexually assaulting her.

The woman bit one of the fingers on his left hand during the attack, which caused him to run away in pain.

"He defiinitely is going to have a sore finger," said Det. Hao Ly.

Police hope a health care professional, a family member or co-worker may have noticed that someone matching the attacker's description has a bite mark on his finger.

The suspect is a described as a Caucasian male, possibly between 25 to 35 years of age, 5'8" to 5'11" and around 150 to 160 pounds.

At the time of the attack, the man was wearing faded jeans and a red hoody with white lettering on the chest.
