The Edmonton Ski Club says it will be out thousands of dollars replacing equipment that was taken by vandals this week.
“It’s so disappointing. We’ve had so much energy here this week … and then, to have this vandalism, it’s so disheartening,” said Ken Saunders, president of the club.
Ken Saunders estimates it could costs as much as $4,000 to replace the cables. (CBC News)Saunders says thieves stole industrial power cords from two of the organization’s snow guns late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
He says it’s the latest in a string of vandalism that the club has seen since the summer, including broken windows and spray-painted buildings.
Saunders estimates it will costs about $4,000 to replace the cables, including the cost of labour. Money he says will have to come out of the group’s fundraising.
“Their actions are hurting their own community... they’re the ones who are getting hurt when we can’t provide them with the facilities that we should have available to them.”
