A former public trustee in Edmonton faces theft and fraud charges after $120,000 was allegedly taken from an estate 15 years ago.

Police allege that the accused created and used a false identity to access money from an estate he was administering in 1997 and 1998.

The Public Trustee's Office contacted police a year ago.

A 57-year-old man is charged with two counts each of theft and fraud over $5,000 and three counts of uttering forged documents.
