It was the day of reckoning for Edmonton's proposed downtown arena.
In the end, Edmonton city council voted unanimously in favour of ceasing all negotiations with Oilers' owner Daryl Katz.
Katz refused to attend Wednesday's meeting, despite Mayor Stephen Mandel's declaration that Oct. 17th would be the "drop dead" date for the current agreement.
