Two familiar concerns - health care and education - were the main topics of discussion as the province wrapped up its final open house on next year’s budget Saturday.
Finance Minister Doug Horner says around 4000 people have also filled out an online survey about Alberta's budget. The meeting, held in Edmonton, was the last of nine public consultation sessions in the lead up to the 2013/14 budget.
“We want to make sure that our priorities are aligned with Albertans’ priorities and that's why we’re talking in a very open and transparent way with Albertans about that,” said Finance Minister Doug Horner.
The other forums were held across the province, including in Calgary, Drumheller and Bonnyville.
Horner says that every region has ispecific needs, but people all over the province have brought up spending on hospitals, schools and basic infrastructure.
“Infrastructure is brought up at every meeting and it's talked about in the sense that we are a growing province and we continue to grow.”
Horner says an additional 4,000 people have filled out an online survey about budget priorities. The survey will remain open for several weeks.
