Premier dismisses fiscal update worries

Premier Alison Redford dismissed concerns on Sunday about the province's first-quarter update, which is projecting a deficit as high as $3 billion.
The update was released on Thursday by Finance Minister Doug Horner.
The deficit wasn't the only controversy to arise from Horner's news conference.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation alleged that the government had broken its own law by not including the financial details that are usually included with quarterly updates.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Redford said her government has done nothing wrong. She said the auditor general was consulted prior to Thursday on how the financial data would be presented.
"We are fully confident that there has been nothing that hasn't been in compliance with the act, and more importantly the auditor general said that, and that's good enough for me," Redford said.
Redford said the budget projected a deficit and her government will still be able to meet its campaign commitments.
The deficit projected in February's budget was $886 million.
