One man is dead and another in hospital after being pulled from a burning crash on a highway northeast of Edmonton Saturday.

RCMP were called to the crash site on Highway 29 near the hamlet of St. Michael, about 75 kilometres outside of Edmonton.

There they found two vehicles had collided, causing “extensive damage.”

One man had been pulled out of a burning vehicle by several other motorists, according to police. He was flown to hospital in Edmonton.

Another man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating the crash, but say alcohol is not thought to be a factor.
