Family and friends will gather in Edmonton on Saturday to remember a woman killed while cycling by an alleged drunk driver on Prince Edward Island.
Elizabeth Sovis, 63, died on July 14 when she was struck from behind while on a bike tour with her husband, Edmund Aunger.
A 49-year-old man from Kensington, P.E.I. is charged with impaired driving causing death.
Allan Effa is leading the memorial at Central Baptist Church.
"Certainly it will be a time of real grief and sorrow," Effa said.
"And yet I sense even from visiting with Edmund that he's also able to celebrate and rejoice over the tremendous 38 years of married life they had together and he's able to laugh and to remember the good things too."
One of Sovis' goals was to help create safer cycling routes in Alberta.
The family is requesting that memorial donations go to the Trans Canada Trail Foundation
