Highway 16 re-opened to westbound traffic after flooding closed the road west of Edmonton on Sunday.
However eastbound lanes between Stony Plain and Spruce Grove were closed as maintenance workers drained the water in the area.
An official with Alberta Transportation confirmed that the eastbound lanes will remain closed overnight. Crews will resume their work on Tuesday morning.
Damage from flooding will also keep the Mill Woods Recreation Centre pool and fitness centre in southeast Edmonton closed until further notice.
The heavy rainfall during the early morning last Thursday forced the centre to close after the basement was flooded with five feet of water.
When the centre will open depends on the extent of damage to the electrical pumping systems and the availability of replacement equipment, said the city.
