One man is dead after a head-on collision northwest of Fort Saskatchewan.

According to the RCMP, the man was driving his truck on Highway 37 eastbound just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday. He was near the intersection with Highway 825, when he collided with another truck heading the opposite direction .

The driver was killed at the scene, while the five people in the other truck escaped without injury.

Police are investigating the crash. Alcohol is not thought to be a factor, but speed and weather have not been ruled out.

No charges have been laid so far.
