RCMP are asking for the public’s help with finding the driver of a vehicle suspected in a fatal hit-and-run east of Edmonton Friday night.

Police say a 49-year-old man was walking across Highway 16 near Innisfree when he was hit and killed by a vehicle travelling west.

The driver fled the scene.

RCMP are now searching for an older-model green Dodge Caravan. The vehicle is thought to have extensive damage to its front end and is missing the front grill.

“Right now, we’re really looking for information on that vehicle,” said Vermillion RCMP Sgt. Michael Mcginley.

“That will help us identify who the driver is, so we can speak to the driver about what happened.”

The name of the pedestrian has not been released.
