Premier Alison Redford denies an email from federal Immigration Minister Jason Kenney is a sign of strained relations between her government and the Harper Conservatives.
Kenney apologized on Tuesday after calling Alberta Deputy Premier Thomas Lukaszuk a "complete and utter asshole" in an email sent to Alberta Conservative MPs and their staff last week.
Many Alberta Conservative MPs supported candidates from the right-wing Wildrose Party in the last provincial election.
Some political observers said the email revealed tensions between the federal Conservative Party and Redford's more centrist Progressive Conservatives.
But Redford downplayed those suggestions on Wednesday, stating that it's not uncommon for politicians to have personality clashes.
"There may be the odd time when people have to agree to disagree but we move beyond those," she said.
"I think that I continue to be as confident in our working relationship as I ever have been and that is a relationship that I have a great deal of confidence in."
Kenney's email was sent in response to Wetaskiwin MP Blaine Calkins, who asked if any Alberta MPs could host a lunch or dinner for Lukaszuk when he was in Ottawa this week.
Kenney advised against doing so because it could put him and other Alberta MPs in the position of having to host a meeting whenever a provincial cabinet minister visited Ottawa.
