Power returns to Fort McMurray, Alta. after outage
Reports of two transformers shorted out

The power is back on in Fort McMurray this morning following major power outages affecting much of the city.
At about 2:45 a.m., police were notified of reports of two power transformers shorting out just north of the city.
They appeared to be the cause of the power outages around Fort McMurray, especially in the downtown core.
Additional police officers were called in to help with traffic control, since the lights at many of the major intersections did not work.
