The milkman. He's someone who evokes a gentler era before big-box grocery outlets and 24-hour convenience stores.

While home milk deliveries were ubiquitous in the 1950s and 1960s, many people would be surprised that the service was still offered in Edmonton in 2012.

But that ended on Friday when Barry Svederus, the city's last milkman, retired after making deliveries for 34 years.

The CBC's Briar Stewart joined him as he said farewell to his long-term customers one last time.
