The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating a police-involved shooting in Fort McMurray, Alta.
The incident happened Saturday afternoon when three plain-clothes members of the Wood Buffalo RCMP Crime Reduction Unit attempted to stop a stolen vehicle at an off-ramp to Highway 63.
Police say shots were fired when the vehicle started to speed off, wounding the 16-year-old male driver. He was transported to a local hospital and later flown to an Edmonton hospital where he is in serious but stable condition.
The two other occupants of the vehicle were not injured. Sgt. Patrick Webb said two of the Mounties received minor injuries.
Police are appealing to anyone who saw the incident to come forward.
