Edmonton police say a suspicious package found Saturday afternoon is now safe after two people walking in a park found a backpack with wires sticking out.

While the backpack no longer poses a threat, police say they still have to identify whether it was dangerous.

A robot was sent in to investigate the package and render it safe, detonating it three times. Vanguard Bible College, located beside the park, was also earlier evacuated as a precaution.

Police have now reopened the area around 103rd Street and 121st Avenue where the suspicious package was found.
