RCMP in Alberta are looking for six people they believe could help them solve the Slave Lake arson case.
Police want speak to people who were seen on Highway 2 outside the northern Alberta town the afternoon of May 14, 2011, the day before wildfire swept through the town.
- two men driving Honda ATVs on the north side of Highway 2, 15 kilometres east of Slave Lake around 4:30 p.m. that day
- anyone associated with a green Dodge Neon that was parked on the side of the road around 4:30 p.m.
- anyone associated with an older (1999-2004) white Ford pick-up truck also seen parked at the side of the highway and seen earlier near the Flat Top Observation Tower.
- two people — possibly a man and a woman — who flagged down the local fire department to tell them about burning brush east of the weigh scale on Highway 2. They may have been in or near a white car
"We don't suspect that they've done anything criminal. They may have information that may help further our investigation," said RCMP spokeswoman Doris Stapleton.
The wildfire on May 15 led to the evacuation of 7,000 residents and eventually destroyed about 400 structures, mostly homes.
