Police were called to a house at 117th Avenue and 86th Street at 3:30 a.m. about an assault in progress.

When officers arrived they found a 35-year-old aboriginal man dead, said police spokeswoman Clair Seyler.

Seyler did not confirm how the man died. An autopsy is expected to be done in the next few days, she said in written release.

The house, which was known to police, was boarded up and its power shut off at the time of the incident.
