An investigation is underway after a man, 34, was killed at work Sunday near Fort McMurray.

The man was an electrical foreman with the PTI Group, a company that provides accommodations and food for oilsands workers. An official with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety says the worker was electrocuted while installing cables at the Beaver River Lodge Residential camp.

Ken Maclean, marketing director with the company, said the incident happened around 9:30 Sunday morning. He said it's too early to tell exactly what happened.

"Obviously it's a very sad day for PTI. Right now our focus is to contact the family and help them through this very difficult time."

MacLean says it's the first workplace death in the company's history.

A stop work order has been issued.
