Edmonton Police have charged a man with manslaughter in the 2006 stabbing of Lloydminster resident Dylan McGillis.

McGillis, 20, died in hospital after he was stabbed on Edmonton's Whyte Avenue on Nov. 19, 2006. Police said he was swarmed by a group of people.

Cleophas (Cliff) Decoine-Zuniga, 23, was arrested Tuesday at his home in north Edmonton and charged with manslaughter. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 24.

Marlene McGillis learned an arrest was made in her son's death when her ex-husband called her earlier Wednesday.

"I was shocked. I just started bawling," she said. "It's just so much emotion comes out of you."

McGillis said she now feels some apprehension about what lies ahead.

"I'm scared because I don't know what this whole new part of this is going to be," she said. "I've always heard this is going to be hell going through the justice system."

Dylan McGillis was stabbed to death in November 2006. CBCPolice are still searching for other suspects in the attack and have so far identified half the people in the group that swarmed McGillis.

"This was a group attack and we have just of course arrested just one individual," said homicide Det. Robert Mills. "But there certainly could be more arrests pending."

Police are looking for a person of interest they describe as possibly being of Asian descent, 5-2 to 5-5 in height, and slender with dark hair.

Mills said investigators believe he was part of the group that swarmed McGillis and may have information about the attack.
