Rural firefighters in northern Alberta are being kept busy by dry and windy conditions.
A large wildfire continues to burn a few kilometres north of Whitecourt, Alta.
The town is not threatened as the fire remains on the other side of the Athabasca River.
At one point, the fire forced Highway 32 to close between Whitecourt and Swan Hills.
Closer to Edmonton, Strathcona County declared a full fire ban after firefighters worked all night to put out a wildfire in the north end of the county.
The fire singed 40 hectares of land in the area of Township Road 560 and Range Road 212 between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The fire is now under control.
The county suspended all fire permits and banned all outdoor fires, including recreational fire pits and charcoal briquettes barbecues.
Sturgeon M.D. north of Edmonton is also denying fire permits, but are still allowing fire pits and barbecues.
