Alberta Health will pay for an expensive treatment for a nine-year-old Grande Prairie boy who suffers from Job's Syndrome.

The condition is an auto-immune disease that causes infections, rashes and open sores on Ethan Richarde's skin.

Health Minister Gene Zwozdesky is promising to come up with a way to cover the $1,400 cost of the injections that relieve his symptoms.

The treatment will make a huge difference in his life, said Richarde.

“I can go to birthday parties,” he said. “I can enjoy my life. And I can take a shower every day and I can play with my friends and I can do everything now.”

His mother's health insurance stopped covering the injections last fall.

“I feel really hopeful,” said his mother Noella Richarde. “I know that (Zwozdesky) will definitely help my son, and help all the children out there who suffer as my son has suffered since he was born.”

The details of how to pay for the treatments, still need to be figured out, said Zwozdesky.
