Ron Wilson leaves CBC Radio's Edmonton AM after 12 years at the microphone. CBC Radio Edmonton AM host Ron Wilson delivered his final morning broadcast Friday.
“Being the host of Edmonton AM has been a dream job, providing me with an opportunity to really connect with the people of this great city and discuss the issues that make a difference in their everyday lives,” Wilson said.
“While I won’t miss getting up before the sun, I will definitely miss speaking with our listeners every day – but I’ll continue to be searching out the stories that matter to them in my new role in the CBC Edmonton newsroom.”
In his new position, Wilson will be responsible for daily story assignment for all CBC News Edmonton platforms including radio, television and online.
“In his 12 years on Edmonton AM, Ron has demonstrated a passion for Edmonton that is unrivalled in this market,” said Judy Piercey, managing director CBC Edmonton English services.
“While our listeners will no doubt miss his inquisitive mind and sense of humour in the morning, we are thrilled to have Ron bring his knowledge of the city to our newsroom, where he will continue to deliver the quality journalism our audiences expect from their CBC,” she said.
Until a permanent replacement is found, guest hosts will be behind the microphone at Edmonton AM, including CBC News Alberta political specialist Kim Trynacity, and CBC Edmonton traffic host Mark Harvey.
Edmonton AM is heard on CBC Radio One in Edmonton 93.9 FM weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
