(RCMP)More allegations have emerged against an Alberta RCMP officer who pleaded guilty last week to an 2009 assault that was caught on video surveillance.

Const. Desmond Sandboe admitted on Friday he beat up a man in custody at the Lac La Biche RCMP detachment on Sept. 13, 2009.

The man, Andrew Clyburn, 33, said the attack started after he corrected Sandboe when he mispronounced his name.

"He just lunged at me and just lost it, banging my head off the wall and off the concrete," Clyburn said.

On the video, Clyburn is seen slumping to the ground and shielding his head from Sandboe's blows during the 40-second assault. A guard and police officer watch but no one steps in.

Clyburn said was then left in a cell for hours without being given medical attention. He said Sandboe told him to mop up his own blood.

The 2009 incident isn't the first time Sandboe was investigated by RCMP.

Const. Adam Morrison of Edmonton police complained to the RCMP two years ago about alleged mistreatment when he was pulled over by Sandboe while he was off duty.

"It was a terrifying experience being threatened to be Tasered a couple of times and assaulted," Morrison said.

The complaint was investigated by the RCMP, but no charges were laid. A spokesman said that complaint may factor into an RCMP code of conduct investigation into the Lac la Biche assault.

"All these things come as a package. Our senior management will be looking at it and whether or not this individual will suffer sanctions and exactly what those sanctions will be, which could be up to and including dismissal from the RCMP," said Sgt. Patrick Webb.

RCMP management have recommended Sandboe be suspended without pay. He will be sentenced Jan. 27 for the assault on Clyburn.
