(CBC)A man who was found dead in a north end apartment Tuesday was the victim of a homicide, Edmonton Police say.

Andrew Patrick McPherson, 25, was found dead in a fourth-floor suite at 149th Ave. and 26th St. around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

McPherson's death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy that was conducted on Wednesday. The cause of death was not released.

"For the purpose of the investigation at this point, the homicide detectives are not releasing those details," police spokesman Chad Orydzuk said. "It's holdback information."

Orydzuk said police were called to the scene by one of the residents of the apartment building.

Police are asking anyone with information about Andrew McPherson to contact them.

This is Edmonton's 19th homicide of 2010.
