A 28-year-old woman is facing 15 charges, including impaired driving causing death, in a crash that killed two women in April.

Erin Huggan, 29, of Edmonton, and Shelly Patterson, 47, of Daysland were killed in the two-vehicle crash.

Charlotte Liselotte Verkerk also faces charges of driving with a blood alcohol level over .08 causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

RCMP were called to the scene of the crash west of Daysland on Highway 13 around 12:15 a.m. on April 3.

Police said a westbound GMC Safari van crossed the centre line of the highway and collided head-on with a Ford Escape.

Patterson was in the Ford Escape and died at the scene. Huggan was a passenger in the Safari van. She later died in hospital from her injuries.

Four other people were injured in the crash.

Verkerk is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Killam on Sept. 7.
