Jasper Avenue to get public toilets this summer

Public toilets and urinals will be installed along Jasper Avenue this summer as part of a pilot project, the city announced Thursday.
The facilities will be installed in seven locations between 107th and 118th Streets and will remain in place until mid-October.
The city has put urinals along Whyte Avenue for past three summers.
The city now plans to build permanent washrooms in the area — in the South Scona parking lot and at the northeast corner of Whyte Avenue and Gateway Boulevard.
The locations were determined after public consultations in February and March.
Late last year, the city decided to spend $921,000 on public toilets. The city was also planning to spend some of the money on a pilot project to put public washrooms in the McCauley neighbourhood.
