(CBC)A Rottweiler that badly injured a three-year-old girl in Grande Prairie, Alta., on Monday night will not be destroyed, CBC News has learned.
The dog is in the custody of the SPCA, but is expected to be released next week, Gord McMahon, a peace officer with the City of Grande Prairie told CBC News Thursday.
The dog bit the girl's face at the South Bear Creek baseball diamonds after she fell on top of it.
The girl was taken to hospital in Grande Prairie and then airlifted to a hospital in Edmonton.
She received 150 stitches to her face, but is doing much better, said her father, Rodney King.
"She's got some scarring," King said Wednesday. "She's going to be the same girl, but look a little different."
