Edmonton will join NASL in 2011

Edmonton has been awarded a franchise in the North American Soccer League, with FC Edmonton beginning play in the 2011 season.
The NASL will kick off with nine teams this year, including the Montreal Impact and the Vancouver Whitecaps
The squads, along with three United Soccer League clubs (Austin Aztex, Portland Timbers and Puerto Rico Islanders), will play in a second-division league established and administered by the United States Soccer Federation.
Edmonton will join the NASL in 2011, along with a franchise in Atlanta.
Lodeweges to coach Edmonton
FC Edmonton also unveiled its coaching staff Tuesday.
Dwight Lodeweges of Turner Valley, Alta., was named the franchise's first head coach.
Lodeweges is currently the head coach of the Dutch premier league's NEC Nijmegen.
He will be joined by assistant coach Hans Schrijver, a former member of the Dutch Olympic team.
