Two teenagers face a number of charges after a man was stabbed Tuesday night at the Corona LRT station.
Three men in their 20's were waiting for a train around 11:15 last night, when they were approached by two 16-year-olds — a boy and a girl — who asked for train fare, police spokeswoman Karen Carlson said.
"The three males refused to provide the money and it's at that point then that it's alleged that the 16-year-old male suspect produced a knife and proceeded to stab one of the victims in the chest area," she said.
"A struggle had occurred then between all of the people involved. LRT security officers had captured this incident on their surveillance cameras and they attempted to apprehend the two suspects."
A transit security officer was allegedly assaulted by the two suspects while he was trying to apprehend them.
Police arrived and arrested the two teens.
The male teen has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, assault of a peace officer with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault with a weapon.
The female teen was charged with robbery, assaulting a peace officer, obstruction and four breaches. Both remain in custody.
The stabbing victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The transit security officer suffered minor facial injuries.
