A 57-year-old man from Lacombe, Alta., will appear in court in Red Deer Wednesday to face charges in the shooting death of a fellow hunter, 55-year-old Philip Moore, RCMP at Sylvan Lake said.
Herbert Stanley Meister has been charged with criminal negligence causing death and with having a firearm in his possession when he was prohibited from doing so.
Moore was shot in the abdomen Sunday while he and three friends were hunting deer on land belonging to one of the hunters near Bentley, Alta., about 140 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
First aid and CPR, attempted with instructions from a 911 dispatcher, were not successful, and Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.
