Nine people were given trespassing tickets Wednesday after a peaceful sit-in at the Edmonton constituency office of Labour Minister Rona Ambrose, a release from the protesters said.
They had occupied the minister's office to protest against the Canadian government's position on climate change.
"We're here to urge Rona to be serious about investing in an economy in Canada in order to tackle climate change," said Keely Kidner, a supporter of the demonstrators who watched from outside Ambrose's office.
'We had a short conversation with her [Ambrose] on the telephone and she basically said that she does care about these issues but we haven't seen any sort of action," Kidner said.
The protesters started the occupation at 11 a.m., according to a news release from Citizens for Climate Justice.
They are to appear in court Jan. 5, 2010.
On Monday, a similar protest occurred at the Calgary office of Environment Minister Jim Prentice. Seven people were arrested and charged with criminal mischief.
They are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 31.
