A 79-year-old Fort Saskatchewan man died Sunday evening after his motorcycle hit a moose on Highway 28A south of Gibbons, Alta.

RCMP said the motorcycle struck the moose around 7:30 p.m., throwing the driver onto the roadway.

The car that was behind him also hit the moose and then struck the motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released. The car's driver was not injured.
