The bodies of a man and a boy were discovered inside this house in northeast Edmonton on Sunday afternoon. (CBC)The bodies of a 39-year-old man and his 11-year-old son were found Sunday afternoon in a house in northeast Edmonton.
The man's common law wife called police to the home at 84th Street and 138th Avenue at 12:42 p.m. because she wasn't able to reach her husband. When they arrived, they found the man and boy dead in the basement.
Police ruled the deaths as suspicious, but are not looking for any suspects for now. Autopsies have been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
The family moved to the house from Ontario two years ago, said next-door neighbour Pat Doren.
"A feeling of sadness comes right away because you hate to see anything like this happen ... they were good people. Good family," she said.
"We knew them as people that come and go," said her husband, Ron Doren. "We knew them as busy young people ... doing their jobs."
Police said they will not be releasing the names of the boy and the man both to protect the privacy of the family and to protect the identity of other children in the family.
