Folk Fest adds extra night for Sarah McLachlan fundraising concert
Festival adds a night to its usual Thursday to Sunday schedule

(Jonathan Hayward/Canadian Press)Canadian songstress Sarah McLachlan will headline a special Wednesday night concert at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival on Aug. 5, her first appearance at the event in 20 years, organizers announced Friday.
The concert was confirmed late Thursday night a day after the festival announced its 2009 lineup. The festival normally runs on Thursday and Friday evenings and all day on Saturday and Sunday.
"Sarah's performance is a special fundraiser for the Festival Endowment Fund, which is a adminstered by the Edmonton Community Foundation," festival producer Terry Wickham said in a news release.
McLachlan last appeared at the festival in 1989.
Singer-songwriter Meaghan Smith will also appear.
People who purchase a weekend pass can buy tickets for the Wednesday concert for $50 for adults and $25 for youths when tickets go on sale Monday. Remaining tickets will be available to the general public at price of $70 for adults and $35 for youth starting June 8.
If tickets are still available in August, the prices will go up.
