RCMP officers found a cache of loaded guns, including assault rifles, when they raided a home Friday on the Fishing Lake Metis settlement, about 300 kilometres east of Edmonton.

Investigators said Sunday a man arrived at the home while they were conducting their search.

They discovered four semi-automatic handguns and two short-barreled shotguns inside the man's vehicle, some of which were stolen.

Police also confiscated more than 2,500 rounds of ammunition.

The investigation is continuing and police haven't said if the man faces any charges.
