Police are asking the public if they saw this car, belonging to Edmonton filmmaker and murder suspect Mark Twitchell, in the rural areas around the city in mid-October. It bears the licence plate DRK JEDI. (Courtesy Edmonton police)Edmonton police are searching for people who may have seen murder suspect Mark Twitchell's car in rural Alberta between Oct. 14 and Oct. 19.
The 29-year-old filmmaker has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the disappearance of John Brian Altinger, 38, who was last seen Oct. 10.
Police accuseTwitchell of luring Altinger to a garage in south Edmonton through a dating website, with the promise of meeting a beautiful woman, and then killing him.
Altinger, who was originally from White Rock, B.C., went missing from the area of 40th Avenue and 57th Street in Edmonton, where he had been living for 10 years.
Investigators allege the scenario of Altinger's death resembles the plot of Twitchell's latest film.
Twitchell's car is a red 2003 four-door Pontiac Grand Am with DRK JEDI on the licence plate, police said.
Anyone who may have seen the car in the Edmonton area in mid-October is asked to call police.
Twitchell's next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 26.
