A 45-year-old Edmonton-area man was killed Thursday in an avalanche near Blue River, B.C., just across from the Alberta border.
Clearwater RCMP said the man was buried by the slide as he was snowmobiling in an area just south of Valemont, west of Jasper National Park.
The man was with two friends who managed to dig him out but were not able to revive him, police said.
His name is not being released until next of kin are notified.
Last month a woman from Canmore, Alta., died in an avalanche in B.C.'s Kootenay National Park.
Susanna Lantz, 28, was buried by the avalanche while backcountry skiing in Chickadee Valley.
