"At this time, no charges have been laid," police spokeswoman Patrycia Chalupczynska told reporters on Wednesday evening. "The investigation is just unfolding."

Neighbours told CBC News that at least three children and a couple live in the house and that they hadn't noticed any trouble since the tenants moved in last summer.

The medical examiner has been requested to respond to the scene, said police.
