An archeologist will supervise the construction of Edmonton's LRT expansion after construction workers dug up human remains last week.

The medical examiner's office determined the bones, found by crews Friday at 43rd Avenue and 111th Street, were historical and that wood found near them may have been a casket.

Some people believe aboriginals used the site as a burial ground.

Wayne Mandryk, head of the city's transportation projects, said Tuesday an archeologist will be present as crews move north from the construction site.

"We wanted to do some investigation about is there possibly any other remains around that site or burials that had taken place," he explained.
