A woman and a male teenager died of exposure after their vehicle became stuck overnight Tuesday night in blizzard-like conditions near a Saskatchewan First Nation reserve north of Lloydminster.
According to the RCMP, it appears a 18-year-old and and 38-year-old woman were in a vehicle that failed to negotiate a turn at an intersection just across the Saskatchewan border in Alberta.
The vehicle became stuck and the two tried to walk to safety, but they didn't make it, police said.
At around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, a motorist and a tow-truck driver discovered the bodies along an access road on the reserve and called the RCMP.
Onion Lake First Nation is about 50 kilometres north of Lloydminster, a city that straddles the Alberta-Saskatchewan border.
The RCMP is telling motorists to remain with their cars if they get stuck.
Blowing snow shut down several highways in the province Wednesday.
