A nurse who admitted she sedated her co-workers at a hospital in northwestern Alberta has had her nursing licence revoked.

Sarah Christine Bowes, 28, who worked at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Grande Prairie, is guilty of 12 allegations of professional misconduct, the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta decided at a hearing on Wednesday.

Bowes did not attend the hearing.

"It's considered a very serious offence that would result in the cancellation of a licence," said Linda Stanger, executive director of the college.

Bowes pleaded guilty in September to four counts of administering a noxious substance, six counts of fraud and two counts of public mischief. She received a two-year conditional sentence to be served in the community and three years probation.

Her lawyer had argued Bowes should not go to jail because she was suffering from an undiagnosed bipolar disorder.

Bowes was arrested in February after police investigated a series of mysterious druggings involving nurses at the hospital that dated back to spring 2004.

Bowes, who had worked at the hospital since February 2004, lost her job following her guilty plea and moved to Ontario, where her family lives.

After she receives a copy of the college's ruling in writing, she will have 30 days to file an appeal.
