Spruce Grove teacher faces sex-related charges
A high school teacher from Spruce Grove, Alta. has been charged with a number of sex-related offences.
Robert John Paolinelli, 41, was suspended from teaching at St. Thomas Aquinas High School after being charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation and forcible confinement.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred outside of the school district. RCMP have not released the age or gender of the alleged victim.
RCMP Const. Barb Roy said police lay sexual exploitation charges when there are allegations of "sexual assault or attempted sexual assault on a minor by a person in authority."
The superintendent of the Evergreen School District, Cindi Vaselenak, issued a statement saying that Paolinelli has been removed from his teaching assignment "pending the results of the criminal investigation."
