Spirit River RCMP investigating shooting death of 26-year-old man
“It’s way too early to tell whether this death was accidental or not.”
The Spirit River RCMP detachment are attempting to determine whether the shooting death of a 26-year-old man was a hunting accident.
In a press release sent Saturday, the RCMP said a group of four men were hunting in a rural area of Saddle Hills County on Jan. 18 when one man was shot.
He died at the scene of a single gunshot wound.
RCMP were called to the area around noon.
"No determination has been made regarding the events surrounding this individual's death," said Cpl. Leigh Drinkwater.
"It's way too early to tell whether this death was accidental or not."
Saddle Hills County is about an hour north of Grande Prairie
Officers with the Spirit River detachment are investigating with the assistance of the RCMP Major Crime Unit and the forensic identification section.
The identity of the deceased is not being released to public.
