Society for native families wins compromise on parking dispute
A society for aboriginal families in Edmonton has won a compromise on a parking issue that could have jeopardized its new location.
City officials wanted the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing society to create 56 new parking spots at Parkdale School just north of downtown.
The society now only has to create eight new spaces folllowing a successful appeal on Thursday.
"I'm feeling very relieved," said executive director Cheryl Whiskeyjack. "I wasn't sure what was going to happen if the appeal didn't come in our favour."
Parking is an issue around the school which is located at 85th Street and 116th Avenue. Whiskeyjack plans to work with the community to find other solutions.
