Police are investigating after a man was killed in a snowmobile accident southwest of Grande Prairie.

The Grande Prairie man, 45, is believed to have been out grooming a trail with another snowmobiler near the British Columbia border. On their way back to camp, the man lost control of the machine and was injured.

The other person took him to a shelter before leaving to get help. When a group returned to pick up the man, he was found dead.

The man’s name is not being released. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
