'Severely injured' man found in snow south of Fort McMurray dies
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday
RCMP in Wood Buffalo are investigating the death of a man near Gregoire Lake, south of Fort McMurray.
Const. Natasha Lytwenko said police were called to help EMS workers after a man was found lying in the snow with severe injuries just after noon on Friday.
When police arrived, the man had already been airlifted out to Northern Lights Regional Hospital where he later died.
The cause of death is currently unknown, says Lytwenko.
“Basically, everything at this point waits,” she said. “We need to wait for that autopsy in order to continue with the investigation.”
RCMP have now secured the area where the man was found while they investigate and collect evidence.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.
Anyone who may have information about the man is asked to call Wood Buffalo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
