Senior killed, teen badly injured in 2 pedestrian collisions

An elderly woman died and a teenage girl was seriously injured in two separate pedestrian collisions on Monday.

An elderly woman died and a teenage girl was seriously injured in two separate pedestrian collisions on Monday.

The 85-year-old woman was struck around 10 a.m. while she was in a crosswalk in front of Sturgeon Community Hospital in St. Albert.

She died several hours later in hospital. RCMP say a 78-year-old woman was behind the wheel of the car.

Then around 8:30 p.m. Monday , a 14-year-old girl sustained serious injuries after she was struck by a vehicle at 130th Street and 130th Avenue in Edmonton.

The vehicle fled the scene. Police are asking anyone who saw the collision to come forward.
