The B.C. Coroners’ Service has confirmed a woman from Edmonton died last Thursday while hiking in Waterton Lakes National Park.

Sarah Louise Larmarche, 23,  was working at the park this summer.

She was hiking with a friend when she fell down a 150-metre cliff around 11:45 a.m. after crossing the Alberta/B.C. border.

Lamarche died at the scene. The Waterton search and rescue team was able to recover her body.

RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate.

  • An earlier version of this story said Lamarche fell 15 metres to her death when, in fact, the distance was 150 metres. It has been corrected.
